| The Somerset town of Taunton is renowned for its association with a range of sports, particularly cricket and horse racing, but it has also had at least 2 greyhound tracks in the past. The earliest track was situated at 3° 5' W 51° 1' N and was built around the outskirts of the local rugby club ground at Priory Park. The independently run track held its inaugural meeting on 26th December 1947, but only survived for about 3 years. It regularly held standard races over 485 yards and distance races over 650 yards, but finally closed on 5th December 1950. |
